Microcrystalline waxes or Ceresin are opaque, soft, plastic, sticky and amorphous waxes with high melting temperature (65-100°C). The crystals they form are of irregular shape and small in size. Microwaxes contain significant amounts of branched chains and cyclic hydrocarbons that distinguish them from paraffin waxes and give them different properties.
