Polyethylene wax is a product of polymerization of polyethylene. These waxes have low molecular weight and petroleum wax-like properties. By chemical composition they are made of saturated homopolymers and have a high degree of crystallinity and linearity. Polyethylene waxes have properties that can vary depending on the manufacturing process and its requirements.
There are also oxidized polyethylene waxes, which are obtained by light oxidation and contain no more than 5% total oxygen.
